USAMRU-K IT Services

USAMRU-K IT section serves over 300 users. USAMRU-K Nairobi station’s IT section supports about 71 users. All PCs at USAMRU-K are networked. The peripherals supported include numerous printers, scanners and laboratory equipments. The recently acquired server hardware has improved provision of IT services within the unit, efficiency in communication, information and data storage and retrieval therefore ensuring maximum utilization of available IT resources.

Email and Internet access

All users have access to 24 hr high speed internet connection and official email address. Visiting scientists and other visitors easily get their laptops connected to the network

Geographic Information System

GIS section not quite developed, but has capability to provide basic geographical data such as mapping study sites, land cover classification, disease prevalence, and basic applications of remote sensed data and acquisition of other geographical data.

Graphics and Printing Services

USAMRU-K IT now has a capability to design and produce large format print for poster presentation. This service is provided to all USAMRU-K and KEMRI users at a small fee for plotter maintenance.
