Overview.  The USAMRU-K Kisumu Field Station executes regulated clinical trials, studies of global emerging infectious diseases, and conducts basic pathogenesis research for the development of vaccines, drugs, and diagnostic platforms for the diseases of Africa and the world.  The Kisumu Field Station is composed of five clinic and research departments (Clinical Trials, Basic Science, Malaria Diagnostic Center of Excellence, Entomology, and Malaria Drug Resistance) and an administration department encompassing four main areas of operation in and around Kisumu as well as satellite field locations throughout Kenya.  The four main locations supported by approximately 270 personnel are:
1.    Kondele (located in Kisumu , Admin Cell, Basic Science, and Clinical Trials).
2.    Malaria Diagnostics Center (5 minutes from Kondele).
3.    Kisian (located 15 minutes from Kondele , Entomology and Malaria Drug Resistance).
Kombewa (located 30 minutes from Kondele , main Clinical Trials Center and Kisumu
